The safety systems on-board the FCVs operating in California today represent some of the latest advances in automotive and fuel safety to date. Hydrogen stations built and operated in the state incorporate time-tested safety systems based on the industrial gas industry’s exceptional hydrogen safety record. The U.S. Department of Energy compares hydrogen very favorably to other fuels we commonly use today.
The California Fuel Cell Partnership is actively educating first responders about hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles. To do their jobs safely and effectively, police, fire and emergency medical personnel need current information about new vehicles and fueling stations operating in California. CaFCP members worked closely with local fire departments, the Office of the California State Fire Marshall and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive emergency response guide and training materials. The materials familiarize first responders with hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles that will are, or soon will be, a part of their communities.

FIRST RESPONDER TRAINING |
CaFCP offers educational workshops to firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, law enforcement and other first responders. These workshops cover information about properties of hydrogen, hydrogen stations, fuel cell vehicles (FCV) and suggested FCV response procedures.

PUBLIC TOUR INFORMATION |
If you would like to visit us – come to our public tour!
Please join us on the fourth Friday of the month for a tour of CaFCP headquarters. The tour begins promptly at 1:00pm and lasts about two hours. Space is limited. To make a reservation click here. For more information, contact our Visitor Program Coordinator at 916-371-2870 or info@cafcp.org.
The public tour includes:
- An overview presentation about hydrogen fuel, fuel cell vehicles, the activities of our members and the role CaFCP plays.
- A tour of our facility, including a look at our hydrogen station.
- A look at fuel cell vehicles and, often, rides in the cars.
- An opportunity to meet our staff and have some question and answer time.
Please note: Because the fuel cell vehicles are in active duty, we can't guarantee which cars will be a part of the tour on the day you visit.
