Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicle Workshop at the Continuing Challenge

Sept. 8-10, 2009 -The CaFCP had an educational booth at the 20th annual Continuing Challenge Haz Mat Workshop in Sacramento, CA. In addition, Jennifer Hamilton gave an ER presentation to a full class.

Participants who stopped by the booth saw a fuel cell stack, a tank, components of the vehicles, plus the Sac Metro FD F-Cell. They also took literature on well-to-wheels, how a fuel cell works and the CaFCP Vision Statement and Action Plan. Jennifer's class had a full enrollment and each participant recieved a CaFCP ER packet. After the presentation, they went outside for a static display. This year, attendees received 1hr credit towards their EMT license for attending the ER workshop. Next year, CaFCP is going to work with Continuing Challenge to provide a shuttle service for attendees to visit CaFCP and Ride&Drive in a FCV during the conference.

 
Santa Monica Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicle Workshop
 

June 25-27, 2007 - CaFCP staff, along with representatives from Honda, Toyota, and Air Products & Chemical, Inc. conducted a Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Vehicle Workshop.The Santa Monica City Yard houses a Fire Training Tower Classroom and an Air Products hydrogen fueling station. 

CaFCP conducted three sessions, each consisting of a presentation on hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles, followed by a 10-question review/quiz and question/answer session; all participants received CaFCP ER Workshop packets. There was a static display of fuel cell vehicle and a fueling demonstration. Overall CaFCP spoke with 85 people.

 
Corona Firefighters Association - 28th Annual Auto Extrication Seminar

April 13, 2007 -This was CaFCP’s second consecutive year speaking at the City of Corona Fire Department Training Center. Hyundai/Kia and Toyota were present with three fuel cell vehicles for static display. There were 112 extricators present including ones from Maui, Oregon, Arizona, Alaska, and Wyoming.

During and after lunch, before the extrication demonstrations began, the fuel cell vehicles were in the back area where the hands-on portion of the training was going to taking place, so that the firefighters could further examine the vehicles and ask the engineers questions.

   
Rosemead Station ER Training

February 21-23, 2007 - CaFCP participated in Chevron’s Southern California Edison (SCE) station ER Training. The station is located in Rosemead, CA. Jennifer Hamilton presented to over fifty local fire fighters, SCE security personnel, facility directors, and Chevron station personnel. The CaFCP presentation consisted of general information about hydrogen, information about fuel cell vehicles, CaFCP members’ efforts to place stations in California, and high-level information about the station. Chevron spoke about the specifics of this particular station (technology, emergency systems, etc.) and gave a tour of the station. In addition, a DaimlerChrysler F-Cell and Kia Sportage were on display for the event.
